CANDLE-LIGHT LEADS TO RENAISSANCE

Like many others in Kolkata, I never knew Rizwan-ur-Rahman, except from that of the newspapers and TV shows. But still I am thinking about him & writing about him too. Why?In fact why are so many people bothered about a single man's death in a land of more than 100 crores? Is this just because the death is still wound in a fog of mysteries or is it because people can relate to this very ordinary person being tortured by some not so ordinary people?

Whatever the reason be, his death & the subsequent candle-light protest was a tight slap to all those who thought that a man is only worth his monetary belongings. It paved the way to a renaissance - the everlasting myth that the only way to protest is violence was once again broken and this time not by any great man like Gandhiji but by common people like me and you.So this article goes out as a salute to Rizwan-ur & all others like him, the so called 'ordinary' people, who dare to step ahead and show the light to the others.
